Jacobs/Wyper Architects, LLP is leading the architectural design team for the addition of a new vaccine facility to CEVA Biomune's headquarters in Lenexa, Kansas. Working with engineering and construction firm SNC Lavalin, JWA designed a technologically complex, two-story facility with several program areas. The first floor will house production and utility functions, while the second floor will be composed of an employee support area, offices, quality control laboratories, mechanical areas, and future expansion space. The construction budget is $15 million, with a total square footage of 53,000 square feet.
Construction began on the new production facility in early 2010. As of late March, the steel framing on the building was nearing completion, and the stairwell and elevator shaft masonry work was complete. The expansion should be complete in late 2010/early 2011.
