Historic Restoration

The preservation and adaptive reuse of existing buildings and structures is a key component of achieving sustainability goals and reducing our society's carbon footprint. From a certain perspective, recyclying and reusing structures in the existing built environment can be considered the first "green" construction. As part of its broader commitment to developing design solutions to meet or exceed sustainability goals for new construction. Jacobs/Wyper is committed to the preservation of historic buildings and landscapes. We bring the same focus and attention to detail to the effort to find innovative solutions to both preserve and adaptively reuse historic buildings while at the same time maintain our vision, principles, and design aesthetic.

With the addition of Robert A. Petito Jr., AIA, we have augmented the firm's leadership and expertise in providing historic restoration services. Rob has more than thirty years of experience developing creative responses to design challenges found in projects addressing historic restoration and building envelope architecture. A hallmark of his work is to find practical solutions working in a collaborative effort that includes the owner, contractors, engineers, consultants, and architect, delivering a project that meets program goals, addresses repair of problem conditions, and client expectations for project delivery. Rob has directed the work of projects that focused on restoration and adaptive re-use of educational, institutional, governmental, ecclesiastical, museum, commercial, and residential structures, and has led and coordinated the work of diverse teams of engineering and specialty consultants. Services for the restoration, renovation, rehabilitation, and adaptive reuse of historic buildings and sites include the preparation of:
