The Uptown Playhouse, located on East 91st Street on Manhatten, was created from an unused, turn of the century, ice house on a shoestring budget for the owners of the Actor's Playhouse in Greenwich Village. The program called for a typical 299 seat, off-Broadway performance space suitable for a variety of shows.
