Temple University, a component of the State System of Higher Education, was for many years a largely commuter campus. In the last few years it has transformed itself into a residential campus, and this has created the opportunity to strengthen the Jewish student community. There are approximately 2200 Jewish students at Temple.
The new Rosen Center replaces an older and smaller structure, and is located just off the main campus. Its site is 45’ x 75’ and sits among three story residential rowhouses. The new structure will be three stories above grade, plus a roof deck and basement. Because it is a much larger and taller building than its neighbors, some effort has gone into the design to fragment the exterior to reduce the scale.
