This Confidential CDMO reimagined its workplace experience in Walkersville, Maryland, with a renovation focused on supporting its Global, Leadership, Quality Assurance Operations, and Manufacturing teams. The initial scope included the transformation of Buildings A and C into a modern, flexible, and collaborative work environment.
With limited daylight in the existing buildings, the design vision introduces skylights and new window openings to flood the space with natural light, bringing a sense of openness and energy to the workplace while supporting employee wellness and performance.
The workplace is being designed around an Activity-Based Work (ABW) strategy to empower flexibility, choice, and mobility, offering a variety of work settings to suit different tasks, workstyles, and team interactions.
The design approach balances clean lines, transparency, and warm materials to create a welcoming and professional environment that reflects this organization’s innovative and people-centered culture.
A light and neutral palette provides a calming backdrop, allowing natural light to take center stage and enhancing the sense of space. Accents in branded colors and thoughtfully chosen textures, such as soft wood tones, matte finishes, and acoustic elements bring warmth and character to the open layout.
Interior glazing is used throughout to foster visibility and connection between teams while maintaining acoustic privacy. Collaborative areas feature casual, hospitality-inspired furnishings to encourage relaxed conversations and impromptu teamwork.
The result is a workplace that feels bright, flexible, and employee first/experience driven to support both focused work and dynamic collaboration.
